Australian to race for Pedercini in in WorldSBK in Malaysia

Ant West began the season as a wildcard in WorldSSP in Phillip Island and now the veteran Australian is once again set to return to the WorldSBK paddock for Pedercini Racing onboard Sylvain Barrier's ZX-10R as the Frenchman continues his recovery.

Barrier broke his hand in a crash in Race 2 at MotorLand Aragon and the WorldSBK rider is not yet back to full fitness, leaving the 34 year old Australian to be called in.

With experience in 125, 250, 500, Moto2, MotoGP and Supersport, West now has a chance to show his potential again in WorldSBK. In doing so, he also enters into an elite group of riders to have had experience of 8 modern categories of motorcycle racing.

French rider Lucas Mahias, who was drafted in to replace Barrier originally, is also now sidelined after a crash at the Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari in Imola in which he broke some vertebrae, meaning absolute rest id required for the Frenchman before returning to competition.

West will get his first taste of the Pedercini Kawasaki on Friday 13th May at Sepang International Circuit, Malaysia.
